Kerala PSC Upper Age Limit Increased to 40 Years

The Kerala Government has increased the upper age limit for Kerala PSC recruitment, giving an additional opportunity to thousands of PSC aspirants who were affected by delays in the recruitment process.

The Kerala Cabinet approved the four-year increase in the upper age limit on 24 February 2026. Following the revision, the maximum age for candidates in the general category has been increased from 36 years to 40 years.

The corresponding upper age limits for OBC and SC/ST candidates have also been increased.

The revised age limits are as follows:

• General Category: 36 years → 40 years
• OBC Category: 39 years → 43 years
• SC/ST Category: 41 years → 45 years

Thus, the upper age limit has been increased by four years across these categories.

Why Was the Kerala PSC Age Limit Increased?

The decision to increase the upper age limit is mainly related to delays in the recruitment process.

Candidates can lose opportunities when recruitment examinations and appointments are delayed and they cross the existing maximum age during the process. The Kerala Government considered recommendations concerning the difficulties faced by such candidates.

The decision follows the recommendations associated with the Justice J.B. Koshy Commission, which examined issues affecting candidates and recruitment.

The four-year increase is intended to provide additional opportunities to candidates affected by such recruitment delays.

Revised Kerala PSC Age Limit: Category-wise

This means that candidates who previously became ineligible after reaching 36 years may now be eligible for relevant recruitments where the revised upper age limit of 40 years applies.
